Elections in Angola Will Serve as Example – US Diplomat
Luanda, 08/04 – The US ambassador to Angola, Dan W. Mozena has expressed his
conviction that the legislative elections in Angola, set for September 05, will serve as an
example for other countries.
Dan Mozena, who was speaking at the end of an audience granted Monday here by the
Foreign Affairs minister, João Miranda, stated that he expressed this conviction to the Angolan
official.
After recognising that the election will have a historic importance, the US diplomat expressed
his satisfaction at the civic education and logistics support granted by American authorities.
Issues related to how the Angolan economy can be diversified, the possibility of USA
investors to help build the new refinery, as well as the conclusion of an agreement of
investment and trade, were also analysed during the audience.
According to the Dan Mozena, the parties also discussed about the possibility of creating a
USA team of volunteers to come to Angola to teach English language, so that Angolan cadres
can compete at the same global level with others.
The officials also discussed about the results of the visit paid by the US under secretary for
Economy, Energy and Agriculture, Reuben Jeffery, who was in Angola two weeks ago.
The Angolan minister also briefed the US entity on the situation in Zimbabwe, since Angola is
also assisting in seeking solutions to the problem.
