SADC: Angola to Chair Defence General Inspectors Organ

Luanda, 08/04 – Angola will chair the organ for General Inspectors of Defence of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), during the second biennial conference to take place in Luanda on August 5-7.
This was announced Sunday by Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) General Inspector, gen. Rafael Sapilinha "Sambalanga", who spoke exclusively to ANGOP, in the ambit of the holding of the mentioned event.
According to gen. Sambalanga, the meeting aims at assessing the activities carried out since the first conference held in Pretoria, South Africa, in July 2006.
The military officer explained that the main guidelines of the event are analysed in the implementation of the conclusions of the previous meeting that are aimed at the mobilisation of efforts for member countries of SADC Defence inspectors organs.
He stated that up to now, nine delegations have confirmed their presence at the event.
Meanwhile, the South African Army General Inspector, maj-general Mxolisi Petane, who is the current chairperson of the organ, is already in Luanda since Friday to attend the event.
Member States of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) are Angola, South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Mauritius Islands, Malawi, Mozambique, Madagascar,
Namibia, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Swaziland, Zambia, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
