Angola: MPLA Highlights Woman Role In Political Context
Waku Kungo, 07/31 - Ruling MPLA party`s women wing (OMA) secretary general, Luzia Inglês, on Thursday here highlighted the role that African and Angolan women in particular play in the current political moment facing the country and the continent.
Luzia Inglês was speaking to over 2,000 women present at the central act of the commemorations of African Woman’s Day, July 31, held at Aldeia Nova, in the central Kwanza-Sul province.
the partisan official said that the current political moment facing the country demands a greater attention and that the Angolan women are aware of their decisive role in the coming September 05 legislative election.
She added that women are the majority of the country`s population therefore there is a need
to develop sensitizing actions within families for the voting practice.
The event is being commemorated under the motto "Angolan Women - Participate in the elections for a better Angola", and represents OMA commitment as a conscious member of women political participation in the country`s democratic process", she said.
Pan-African Women Organisation was created in 1962, by some African women who have been fighting for a better participation in political, economic and social life on the continent.
Among those attending the act were the governor of Kwanza Sul, Serafim do Prado, members of OMA’s national and provincial secretariat, representatives of political parties, among others. |
