Remains of Writer Ricardo Manuel Laid to Rest

Luanda, 09/21 – The remains of writer and bookseller Ricardo Manuel, who passed away last September 14 due to heart attack, in Luanda, were buried at Alto das Cruzes cemetery, in a ceremony marked by the reciting of poems.

Writer Amélia Dalomba and lovers of poetry remembered, at the burial, some verses of poems from the man who dedicated himself to arts and bookselling.

Speaking to the media, the secretary for cultural activities of the Angolan Writers Union (UEA), Kanguimbu Ananás informed that Ricardo Manuel, aged 77, a Portuguese citizen who lived in Angola for 45 years, contributed for the growth of the Angolan culture.

"Angola meu amor", "Cantares para Maria" and "Crónicas e Mujimbos" are part of seven books written by Ricardo Manuel.

Born in Lisbon, on 05 October 1930, Ricardo Manuel, a bookseller by profession, worked for Lello bookshop, one of the oldest in Luanda.
