Kwanza Sul/Voters Registration: Co-ordinator Officially Closes Process Today

Sumbe, 09/21 – The co-ordinator of the Inter-Ministerial Commission for the Electoral Process (CIPE), Virgílio de Fontes Pereira is expected to officially close the voters registration process, during a ceremony to be held in Sumbe, central Kwanza Sul Province.

ANGOP learnt from the programme that upon his arrival in Sumbe, Virgílio de Fontes Pereira will meet with the provincial governor, Serafim do Prado, and with members of the local executive.

Fontes Pereira, who is also the minister of Territory Administration, will visit the local National Oil Institute, 13 kilometres from Sumbe City, and chair the official closing ceremony of the process.

The formal ceremony of ending the work of the electoral registration brigades will happen on Saturday, followed by the symbolic offering, by the Technical Electoral Council (CTE), of a computer to minister Fontes Pereira and the key for the closing of the electoral registration.

The registration of national citizens at voting age started on 15 November 2006 and was initially set to end on 15 June 2007, but the period was extended to 15 September 2007 due to constraints caused by rains and other difficulties.
