M’banza Congo, 06/29 – A 737 Boeing aircraft with the number plate TBP-D2, of the Angolan Airlines that was flying the Luanda/M`banza, Congo/Negage/Luanda route, crashed Thursday in M’banza Congo city (northern Zaire province), killing six and injuring a number still to be established, ANGOP learned.

The plane that was flying 78 passengers crashed early Thursday afternoon into a house when the pilots was trying an emergency landing.

The aircraft started the landing midway the runway, causing the pilot to lose control and crash into a nearby house that was totally destroyed.

Among the dead victims is Manuel Cristovão “Paciência”, M’Banza Congo district administrator, and Catholic prierst, George Zulanelo.

Those injured, whose precise number is still to be established, are in bad condition and receiving medical assistance at Zaire`s Provincial Hospital.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
