Angolan Writer to Release New Book on Friday in Luanda
Luanda, 06/26 - The Angolan writer Jimi Rufino will launch on Friday, by 06:00 pm,
in the premises of the Angolan Writer`s Union (UEA), in Luanda, his second book of poems
entitled "Pecados do silêncio" (Sins of silence).
According to the author, the 32-poem literary work, published by the UEA, portrays the
mistakes made by Angolans in recent times, for having spent so many years involved in a civil
war, while the country was waiting to undergo a development process.
To Jimi Rufino, the poems in his book, which will have 1000 copies, embark on a
philosophical trip to the war period in the country, a phase in which the silence of the people
was reigning, forced by the pain that they were experiencing then.
Poems like "Auto de absolvição" (Acquittal sentence), "Masoquismo" (Masochism), "Auto
retrato" (Self portrait) and "Atlas de absolvição" (Acquittal Atlas) are some of the highlights of
this book, which will be presented by the Master in Philosophy, José de Brito.
Born in Luanda, in 1982, Jimi Rufino started writing at the age of 20, getting inspired by
several old school and new generation writers, mainly from Angola, Portugal, Brazil and South
America.
The first book of the author, who is also a journalist, is entitled "Kianda Kia Ngola" (poemas).
