Ruling MPLA`s Politburo Regrets Death of Fernando de Assis

Luanda, 06/25 - The secretariat of the ruling MPLA party`s politburo regrets the death of the nationalist Fernando de Assis, which happened last Monday, in Luanda, due to illness.

According to a note delivered to ANGOP on Tuesday, the deceased was "a patriot who joined MPLA at a very early age, in the struggle for the liberation of the Angolan nation, in which he gave his valuable contribution to the achievement and consolidation of national independence".

It also highlights Fernando de Assis` engagement in national reconstruction and in the creation of a fair, peaceful and reunited society. "At this moment of great sorrow, the secretariat of MPLA`s politburo leans to the memory of Fernando de Assis and addresses to the mourning family its heartfelt condolences", reads the note.
