BDA Bank Approves Funding for Tomato Paste Factory in Matala
Luanda, 06/25 – The Development Bank of Angola (BDA) recently approved the
funding of a project to install a tomato paste factory in Matala district, south Huíla province,
whose amount exceeds at least USD 10,7 million.
“The referred project foresees to install a production chain with the capacity of six tonnes/hour
of fresh tomato, to obtain an output of at least one tonne/hour of tomato paste” – reads the
BDA note that was delivered to ANGOP this Wednesday.
It is estimated that annually, the factory shall process about 12,500 tonnes of fresh tomatoes
that shall create an output of 2,200 tonnes of tomato paste.
The document adds that the project shall have a great impact on the economy of Matala
district, since, apart from generating at least 40 new jobs, shall boost tomato production by
local small and middle-scale farmers, therefore guaranteeing the increase of revenues to rural
families.
On the other hand, the project shall reduce the importing of foodstuff of great urban
consumption.
In a first phase, the project shall count on the Spanish technical assistance that will guarantee
the full functioning of the factory and will be in charge of training the national manpower. |
