Angola/Huila: Over USD 900,000 Invested in Water Projects
Lubango, 06/24 – Southern Huila Province government invested USD 997, 000 as from February this year, in a construction project of 54 underground water collection systems in Chibia, Matala and Quilengues districts, for the benefit of 12,000 people, ANGOP learnt from the Energy and Water provincial director, Abel da Costa.
ANGOP learnt that the project is financed by the Italian Co-operation in Angola and aims at increasing supply of the precious liquid to the population in the referred areas.
The official informed that the implementation stage of the system is already 40 percent through.
The project is giving priority to three zones where the liquid is scarce, aimed at avoiding the inhabitants travelling long distance to fetch water, for daily consumption as well as for agriculture.
About 700,000 people are benefiting since 2004 up to date from the governmental programme that as the objective of supplying potable water to the province. |
