Angola/Cuba Relations with New Dynamic
Luanda, 06/24 – The Cuban Foreign Affairs minister, Felipe Perez Roque, said Monday in Luanda that the relations between Angola and his country have lately gained a new dynamic, especially in the economic and social sectors.
The Cuban diplomat spoke to the press at Luanda’s 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, moments after his arrival in the country, where he will fulfil a two-day work programme.
“After the visit to Cuba of the Angolan President, José Eduardo dos Santos, the relations between both countries face a new impulse, mainly in the economic and social sectors” he said.
According to Felipe Perez, during his stay in Angola he will meet with his Angolan counterpart, João Miranda, with whom he will discuss issues related to bilateral interest.
The head of the Cuban diplomacy, who is leading a delegation of his office, was welcomed by the Angolan Public Works minister, Higino Carneiro and the Cuban ambassador to Angola,
Pedro Ross Leal.
According to the programme of visit, delegations of both countries also intend to sign this Tuesday two agreements, namely one on sentences execution and another on legal assistance.
For the same day, the programme also includes a lunch to be offered by the Angolan Foreign Affairs minister to his Cuban counterpart and his delegations.
In the afternoon period, the Latin American official will travel to the south-western Benguela Province. He is to hold a courtesy meeting with the provincial governor, Dumilde Rangel, and also visit Benguela`s Ophthalmologic Clinic and will return to Angola’s capital city, Luanda, on the same day.
On Wednesday, the work plan includes a visit to Viana Industrial Estate, as well as an audience to be granted to him by the President José Eduardo dos Santos.
The programme also includes an audience with the speaker of the National Assembly, Roberto de Almeida, during the morning period.
In the afternoon, the Cuban minister has scheduled a visit to the tomb of commander Raul Dias Arguelles, in Alto das Cruzes Cemetery.
The programme ends with a reception in the Cuban Embassy in Angola, to be offered by the ambassador Pedro Ross Leal.
