Elections Monitor to Train 256,000 Clerks for Polling Stations
Luanda, 06/24 - The chairman of the National Electoral Commission (CNE), Caetano
de Sousa, on Monday in Luanda announced that 256,000 people will be trained to work in
the polling stations during the coming legislative elections, scheduled for 05 September this
year.
The CNE official said so at the opening of a training programme for electoral trainers, which
will debate, until Thursday, themes like “The role of electoral actors”, “Competences of the
CNE”, “Candidacies” and “Elections observers”, among other subjects.
Addressing participants, Caetano de Sousa said that the CNE started the cycle of preparing
those people that will have the mission of going to the rest of the provinces to train other
personnel that will be working at polling stations.
“The National Electoral Commission started the training of national trainers, as the first step to
train about 256,000 people who will work in polling stations”, he explained.
He went on to say that there is a need to prepare all these people so that they know the
legislations that supports the work of the CNE, for the institution to fulfil its main task in this
process, which is to guarantee the exercise of voting to all eligible citizens, in September 2008. |
