Angola/Cunene: Home Ministry To Step Up Policing Activity

Ondjiva, 06/23 – The Home Affairs Ministry will step up proximity policing as well as the adoption of other actions aimed at reducing crime level in the southern Cunene province, said Sunday the acting delegate of the local corporation’s Department, Joaquim Domingos António.

Addressing the provincial event, marking the 29th anniversary of MININT, celebrated on 22 June, the officer referred that the policing activities will allow major flow of information that concern the police, and will also ensure more security to citizens.

To him, it is also necessary to cooperate with chieftains and religious institutions, with view to mobilise and sensitise the citizens to fight against crime.

Also commander of Fire Brigade Service in Cunene, Joaquim António, disclosed that as result of MININT activity in the region, from June 2007 to June 2008 period, the corporation registered 1,914 assorted crimes and 1,538 citizens arrested, among them national and foreigners.
