International Mining Fair Closes Without Diamond Auction

Luanda, 06/23 – The fourth edition of the International Mining Fair (FIMA), an event that was officially opened last Wednesday in Luanda, closed on Sunday without the holding of the diamond auction as expected by the organisation.

"Instead of holding the diamond auction, we preferred to collect funds from the participating companies in order to avoid just one contribution at the end of the auction", ANGOP learnt from a source of the organising body.

According to FIMA`s organising body, the auction would fetch over USD 100,000, so as to beat the record of the previous edition, held in 2006, with about 130 firms of the mining sector.

The funds of the auction would be attributed to solidarity causes. At the end of the event, FIMA awarded statuettes and merit diplomas to the best exhibitors.
