Luanda, 04/04 – The general commander of the National Police, general commissioner, Ambrósio de Lemos will leave for Lisbon, Portugal, to attend from March 08-09, the meeting of police chiefs of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP) that will debate matters relating to the reinforcement of cooperation in the public security field.

ANGOP learnt from a communiqué that the gathering precedes the meeting that will formalise the establishment of the Forum of Home Affairs Ministers of CPLP.

Participants to the meeting will also analyse matters relating to the holding of the II Meeting of Police Chiefs of CPLP, so as to proceed with the process of creating and recognising the organisation of police chiefs of the community, launched in March 2007, in Luanda.

Angola has been playing an important role in the creation of the referred organisation, having created the conditions for the first meeting that produced the called Luanda Declaration, in which CPLP’s police chiefs committed themselves to recognise Portuguese as a language of work at INTERPOOL.
