Luanda, 04/04 – Residents of the buildings 602 up to 612, near the site of the collapsed National Criminal Investigation Department (DNIC) building, were briefed on the structural problems of buildings, after a survey and inspection held Thursday by a delegation of the Public Works Ministry.
Speaking at the meeting with residents, the deputy minister of Public Works, José Joanes André referred that the mission results from an instruction of the Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, so as to detect the housing problems of citizens, in Luanda city, in a first phase.
According to him, the preliminary work carried out will enable the drafting of a report that will also be informed to residents.
On his turn, the director general of the Engineering Laboratory of Angola, Molares D`Abril affirmed that the visits that he has been paying to buildings surrounding the former DNIC building also aim at detecting the faults that may affect the buildings.
“We have visited two buildings in the ex-Brasil Avenue and now we are visiting others of the Senate Chamber”, said the official.
As to him, what mostly worried the delegation of the Public Works sector was the building number 602, where the foundations of one side are too high, what demands some additional care to avoid dangerous situations.
During the visit, the entities observed the existence of generators causing vibrations on the foundations of the building, totally blocked drainage ditches and other factors that hinder the proper functioning of buildings.
