Luanda, 09/22 – Angola’s assistant minister of the prime minister, Aguinaldo Jaime defended Friday, here, a pro-active role of the citizen in the economic growth process underway in the country.

The official stressed that in this phase in which the country registers a “vigorous and robust” growth, the citizen should adopt a pro-active attitude seizing the opportunities the country offers for businesses and turning the economy strong and diversified.

Aguinaldo Jaime was speaking at a meeting with journalists, and about the topic “Angolan Economic Growth – Reality or Chimera?”, in the light of events marking the 31st anniversary of the National Radio of Angola (RNA), to be celebrated on October 05.

"At this moment that there are 19 banks operating in the country and a growing number of non-banking financial institutions, which are sources of financings", he referred, adding that Angolan citizens now have great opportunities of expanding their businesses and increase incomes.

Concerning the benefits, "the growth of the national economy” represents an increase of the volume of goods and services and creates opportunities of employment, businesses and increase of revenues and the wellbeing of the populations", defended Aguinaldo Jaime.

The gains also relate to the creation of opportunities of diversifying employment for citizens, reduction of the unemployment rate, which he considered as “very high”, and in the obtaining of income and in the construction of economic and social infrastructures in the country.

Apart from the non-oil productive growth and the reduction of inflation, the development process should be followed by efforts by the sectors of education and health, on scientific and technologic basis, emphasized the prime minister’s aide.
